★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 金照寺(現在の寺とは別)の住職が地域住民の足の確保のために禄米百石を出してかけたことからこの名前がついた。昭和初期までは木橋で、橋板の間の隙間から川の流れが見えたという。当時は雄物川が土崎へ流れ、至る所で太平川が蛇行していたので、頻繁に洪水が発生した。隣の才八橋(ぐらぐら橋とも呼ばれていた)や御東橋は流されたのに、百石橋は1度も流されなかったという。
The name comes from the fact that the chief priest of Kinsho-ji Temple (apart from the current temple) sent out Rokumai Hyakuseki to secure the feet of local residents. Until the early Showa period, it was a wooden bridge, and it was said that the flow of the river could be seen through the gap between the bridge boards. At that time, the Omono River flowed to Tsuchizaki, and the Taihei River meandered everywhere, causing frequent floods. It is said that the neighboring Saihachi Bridge (also known as Guragura Bridge) and Mito Bridge were washed away, but Hyakuishi Bridge was never washed away.
