As I entered Mr. Matsuda and I tried to communicate with the little Japanese I knew and the little English he could speak as well. After we were able to figure out what I wanted, I was asked to write my name on a form as I was a new customer. After I paid for the package I wanted Mr. Matsuda gave me a discount for being a first time customer, as most places do in Japan. After that Mr. Matsuda asked me if I would like to change into something more comfortable and handed me a basket with loose pants and a tshirt. I changed in the small corner in the back concealed by a curtain for privacy. Next, Mr. Matsuda took my basket with my clothes and purse and placed it conveniently under the massage bed he had assigned me. This is when I found out Mr. Matsuda would also be my massage therapist. He started his timer and began to work on my back. There is no oil used in the massag . He worked over the clothes and towels he had laid on me. The massage was very relaxing and just what I needed after a busy week. Mr. Matsuda's professionalism and customer service made the experience even better. The only con is that Hogupon is next to a busy road. You can hear people talking, children crying and vehicles driving by. Other than that, I say myalmost ¥3,000 was well worth the service.
