★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 昨年11月末、主人を和光園で看取りました。夫は20年以上通所デイケアへリハビリで通い、2年前から入所でお世話になりました。
今思うのは、夫が長年第二の自宅の様に過ごせたのは、ケアマネから始まるスタッフの方々の、患者へ寄り添うと言う変わらぬ姿勢だったと思います。(家族へは各担当さんから都度適切な説明やアドバイスがあった事も安心でした)
人は老いて行く程に、物や形より自分に向けられる優しい声掛けや笑顔に癒やされます。それを実感しながら、病院ではなく施設で穏やかに看取る事が出来た事は家族にとっても大きな感謝でした。
介護に携わる人達の待遇がより改善される事を切に願っています。
At the end of November last year, I took care of my husband at Wakoen. My husband has been going to day care for more than 20 years for rehabilitation, and has been indebted to me for two years.
I think now that my husband was able to spend many years at his second home because of the staff members, starting with the care manager, who were always close to the patient. (I was relieved that each person in charge gave appropriate explanations and advice to my family.)
As people grow older, they are healed by the gentle voices and smiles that are directed toward them rather than their objects and shapes. It was a great gratitude to my family that I was able to take care of them calmly at the facility instead of at the hospital while realizing it.
I sincerely hope that the treatment of those involved in long-term care will be improved.
