★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 「因幡街道で山陰の因州鳥取と山陽の藩州赤穂を結ぶ要衝だった峠。古い文献には釜坂、鴨坂、加茂坂とも記されています。少年武蔵が佐用・平福の母のもとへ何度も通ったのがこの坂道です。後醍醐天皇が隠岐脱出の際にこの峠を越えて京都へ向かったと伝えられ、また鳥取藩池田候の参勤交代のコースでもありました。人っ子一人通らない坂道にしては道幅が広く、江戸時代から整備されていた事が伺えます。（みまさか観光ナビより抜粋）」・・岡山県美作市側は小型車一台がやっと通れる未舗装路ですが、兵庫県佐用町側は車の通行はできません。
