This is one of the ruins of the Yayoi period of Gunma. A large-scale paddy field remains was confirmed in the construction of Kanetsu Road. Kanetsu Road is elevated only in the part of the ruins.

Quiet and calm. It is a good environment with a drinking fountain, a toilet, and Azumaya, but you need to be careful during the day because there is little shade.

I heard that it is a famous archaeological site. It's close to the office, so I always pass in front of it. The historic site Hidaka remains are said to be the remains of a village in the Yayoi period that straddles Hidakamachi and Nakaomachi in Takasaki City. It was discovered during an archaeological excavation prior to the construction of the Kan-Etsu Expressway in 1977. The tomb area (square girder tombs) and paddy fields in the latter half of the Yayoi period were found. Since the pit-house ruins were also confirmed on the east side of the paddy field ruins by the subsequent range confirmation survey, the country was established in November 1989 as an important archaeological site where the residential area, production area, and grave area are collectively preserved. It was designated as a historic site. As a result of the excavation survey, it was found that the entire moated settlement was preserved. The moated settlement is a village surrounded by a moat, and during the Yayoi period it was distributed over a wide area from Kyushu to Hokuriku and the northwestern part of the Kanto region. The moated settlement at the Hidaka site is 110 and 120 m in diameter and has an oval shape. The area is 11,000 m2, which is about the same size as a 400 m track for athletics, and there are earthworks along the inside of the moated settlement, and people lived inside it. Paddy fields were run in the valley west of the moated settlement. It is said that there was fresh water in the valley head in a paddy field that skillfully used the natural valley topography. Circular tombs were found in the east of the moated settlement, and square tombs were found in the west. It's getting more interesting.
