ここで東西に分岐した見沼代用水は大宮台地に食い込むように存在していた見沼の縁よりも僅かに標高の高いところを縫うような形で開削されています。
さほど高低差のないところを徐々に河道の標高を下げていくのには高度な測量技術と土木技術がなくてはできるものではないと思っています。
これほど高度な技術を投入して作られた用水路の末端部が親水公園という名の水を循環させるだけの水溜りになったり暗渠になったりと、悲しい限りです。

I think that it is not possible without advanced surveying technology and civil engineering technology to gradually lower the altitude of the river channel where there is not much difference in elevation.
It is sad that the end of the irrigation canal, which was created with such advanced technology, becomes a puddle or an underdrain that circulates water called a water park.
