ちょっとした駐車場もあり良かったです。
とてもキレイでした！

将軍桜
奈良・平安時代の古代路・東山道がここを通っていました。都と東北地方を結ぶ官道（国道）です。急変があると早馬でこの道を駆けぬけて次の駅に伝えます。そのため20㎞おきに馬を常備した駅がおかれました。新田駅もこの近くの竹橋（柿木沢）にあったようです。都からは奥州遠征の将軍や軍隊が進み、ここからは九州に行く防人たちが別れを惜しみながら旅立ちました。鎌倉時代すぎは別な道路がいくつもでき、東山道はいつの間にか消滅していました。
ここには将軍道と伝えられた古い道が残っており、そこを発掘してみると道幅が6ｍもある立派な東山道跡とわかりました。その将軍道の名残をとどめる桜があります。ずっと昔、山桜の大木があり、それから何代目かの桜に植え替えられたということです。

Shogun Sakura
The ancient road of the Nara / Heian period, Tosan-do, passed through here. It is a public road (national road) that connects the capital and the Tohoku region. If there is a sudden change, I will run through this road on Hayauma and tell the next station. Therefore, there was a station with horses every 20 km. It seems that Shinden station was also in Takebashi (Kakikizawa) near here. The generals and troops of the Oshu expedition advanced from the capital, and from here the guards who went to Kyushu departed with regret. After the Kamakura period, many other roads were created, and Tosan-do disappeared before I knew it.
There is an old road that is said to be a shogun road, and when I excavated it, I found that it was a magnificent Tosan road trace with a width of 6m. There are cherry blossoms that retain the remnants of the shogun road. A long time ago, there was a large tree of wild cherry blossoms, and then it was replanted with several generations of cherry blossoms.
