実際、配置も祇園神社のほうが下座である。
とはいえ、龍神社拝殿前にはいない狛犬さまを従えていて、なかなかに風格がある。
龍神社が上社、祇園神社が下社という二社制的な位置付けなのかも。
岡山県神社庁のwebサイトによると、龍神社の通称は『お祇園さん』ということである。時代が下るなか、民衆の信仰の対象としてより親しまれてきたのは、祇園神社であることがうかがえる。
メインの龍神社にはない狛犬さまが奉献されているのも、納得。
神社名としては『進雄（すさのお）神社』とも言われるようだが、これは慶応～明治初頭の神仏分離・廃仏毀釈の動きを受けての名称だろう。
（『祇園さま』とは本来、スサノオと仏教系の牛頭天王を習合した信仰対象なので）

It is said that it is called "Susano Shrine" as the name of the shrine, but this is probably the name after the movement of the separation of Buddhist Buddha and the abolition of Buddha in the Keio-early Meiji period.
("Gion-sama" is originally a religious object that combines Susanoo and the Buddhist Ushido Tenno.)
