★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 願行寺は元々、山形市寺町にあるの専称寺であった。戦国時代の武将「最上義光」が、豊臣秀吉に殺されてしまった自分の娘の「駒姫」の菩提を弔ってもらいたい、との要請で山形城下の今の場所に移りました。
移る以前は「専称寺願正坊」との称号であったので、こちらの「高擶」に残った寺の名称を「願行寺」と改称したのでした。故に同じ宗派の浄土真宗大谷派の、とてもとても由緒あるお寺さんなのです。

Gyogyo-ji was originally a dedicated temple in Teramachi, Yamagata City. The warlord "Mogami Yoshiaki" of the Warring States period moved to the present location of Yamagata Castle in response to a request to mourn the bodhi of his daughter "Komahime" who had been killed by Toyotomi Hideyoshi.
Before the move, the title was "Temple Ganshobo", so the name of the temple that remained in "Takadama" was changed to "Gyogyo-ji". Therefore, it is a very, very venerable temple of the Jodo Shinshu Otani sect of the same denomination.
