平成25年度で創立50周年！「昭和３９年４月，中井小学校・島塚小学校の二校が統合してスタートしました。校舎は昭和４５年１０月に完成しました。落成記念式典を１０月１７日に行いましたのでこの日を創立記念日としています。その後　，児童数が増加し，昭和５９年に教室棟を増設しています。同じ年から，安兵衛太鼓が新発田祭りに参加しています。安兵衛太鼓の伝統も，29年余になります。さらにその後の児童数増加にともない、昭和６３年に新設された東豊小学校に校区の一部が分離し，現在の二葉小学校となりました。統合二葉小学校の建学の理念は、写真の建学の碑に刻まれている「育心」、そして、学校名「二葉」は、「栴檀（センダン）は双葉より芳し」のことわざに由来するということで、「知と心」、すなわち知性と感性を育むことにあるのです。」
