It is not known when it was built, but it is a castle that has a deep relationship with Mr. Date, and in the latter half of the Muromachi period, the predecessor Daibutsu Castle existed. Mr. Date leaves Fukushima Castle at Hideyoshi Toyotomi's Oshu punishment, and Hideyoshi places Gamo Ujisato and Uesugi Kagekatsu as restraints of Oshu. Mr. Uesugi's rule over the castle continued for a long time, but Mr. Uesugi was reduced in territory due to the problem of traces, so the Fumidai Daimyo was placed throughout the early modern period. It takes about 20 minutes on foot from Fukushima Station to reach the Fukushima Prefectural Office, but before that, we stopped at the earthwork remaining in the schoolyard of Fukushima Daiichi Elementary School. The remains of the prefectural office are behind the building, so it's a bit difficult to understand. The earthwork laying in the back of the parking lot was wonderful, and it was longer than I thought it would be after going up. It is also one of the few remains that recalls the power of Fukushima Castle. I enjoyed the blue sky and scenery of the Tohoku region while taking a leisurely view of the Abukuma River flowing through the castle.

Although there are many spectacular castles and castle ruins in the prefecture such as Aizuwakamatsu, Nihonmatsu, and Shirakawa, it is too disappointing for the name "Fukushima Castle Ruins"

Fukushima Castle is a Japanese castle located in Fukushima City, Fukushima Prefecture (Shinobu District, Mutsu Province). The clan office of the Fukushima domain was set up. The area where the Fukushima Prefectural Office is currently located is the site of the castle. Although it is a flat castle, the Abukuma River and Arakawa River flow to the east and south of the castle, and it played the role of Sotobori as a natural fortress. The area around the current Fukushima Castle Ruins is lined with public institutions and private buildings, including the Fukushima Prefectural Office, and there are some of the remains of the garden, Koyoyama Park, and the earthworks and outer moat that remain in the south of the prefectural office. The year when Fukushima Castle (and Sugitsuma Castle, Great Buddha Castle) was built is unknown, but it has been confirmed that the central buildings in the Fukushima area already existed, at least during the Kofun period.
Currently it is Fukushima prefectural government office. It is not surrounded by moats like Fukui castle, so it is a bit hard to understand that this is a castle ruins.

It is also a historical building. It is a very pleasant way to stroll around in autumn by riding a heavy machine. Come and play!

It was a clay castle and a moat castle using the Abukuma River. There are no buildings left, and there is a monument and an explanation board pointing to Honmaru. It is an impression that there were not many highlights. Is n’t it too wide for a walk?

Located along the river. It is a wonderful territory, but there are few remains. There is only a stone monument in front of the prefectural office. The park on the site has been cleaned cleanly, but it's not enough to take a small walk.

The ruins of the castle and some earthworks remain. The height of the earthworks reminds us of the past. He was an executive of the Liberal Party in the Meiji era. A statue of Kono Hironaka, a Freedom and People's Rights Campaigner, stands proudly. The best thing to see here is that the river looks beautiful in the mountains in the distance. The river that once defended the castle now creates a beautiful scene.
