今年はようやく7～8分の開花。例年になく、花が咲くのが遅かった。
2021年3月16日
今年も昨年同様、早目の開花が始まった。毎日、通ってる人によれば、最初の花は一昨日、1つだけ咲いたそうだ。昨日は5つ。今日、3月16日は、7、8つ。来週になれば花盛りとなるだろう。

斜面の中程より上の方に咲いているのを確認しましたが、今年は少し遅咲きなのかな。
来週末辺りきれいに咲いてそうです。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 4月3日現在、満開になってます！ 「山の妖精」とも呼ばれる紫色の小さな可憐な花が、一面に咲きそろっている姿は壮観です。住宅地にある雑木林の一角に群生しており、それほど規模は大きくありませんが低地にこれだけ咲いているのは珍しいそうです。
駐車場は道路向かいの、柏市逆井運動場の駐車場が臨時に開放されています。
現地の説明板を読むと、カタクリがこのように花を咲かせるようになるまで10年近くもかかる、とのこと。周辺の雑木林はよく手入れされていて、関係者や地元の人たちの長年の努力に頭が下がります。
余談ですが本来の「片栗粉」はカタクリの根から取れる良質なデンプンの事ですが、収穫量が少なすぎるため現在販売されているものは、ほとんどジャガイモのデンプンを精製したものなのだだそうです。

According to the local explanation board, it will take nearly 10 years for the erythronium to bloom like this. The surrounding thickets are well maintained and the long-standing efforts of stakeholders and locals are depressing.
As an aside, the original "potato starch" is high-quality starch that can be obtained from the roots of erythronium, but because the yield is too low, most of the products currently on the market are refined potato starch.
