★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 昔、越後交通（株）が旧栃尾市と長岡市の悠久山を結ぶ私鉄（栃尾鉄道線）を営業していた時にあった上見附（かみみつけ）駅の跡地に越後交通見附バスセンターが建っている。
古い駅舎は越後交通の見附営業所としてその後も利用されていたが、老朽化により取り壊され今の建物になった。それにともなって駅の土地も周辺もすっかり住宅地に変わり今は当時の面影を偲ぶこともできない。
JRの見附駅が見附市街地から離れており利便性が悪かったせいもあり、市街地に近かったこの上見附駅の存在価値は高かった。
子供の頃、親に連れられ何度もこの電車に乗って長岡に行ったことが懐かしく思い出される。
そんな栃尾鉄道の列車はアイボリーとエンジのツートンカラーの車両で通称「とってつ」と呼ばれ市民に愛されていたが1975年4月1日に全線廃止され、同社が運営するバス路線に引き継がれた。
なおこの駅舎跡近くの刈谷田川に架かる当時の鉄橋は 、今は「ふれあい橋」として歩道＆自転車専用道路に生まれ変わり、線路の跡地はサイクリングロードとして市民に愛されており、春には特に名木野小学校から綜合体育館にかけての土手脇に咲く桜が美しい。
