★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 「東やまと20景」の一つ、「一小のいちょう」があります。市HPによると『校庭のまん中に１本、どっしり立ったいちょうの木。第一小学校は大正12（1923）年に創立しました。いちょうの木はその翌年校庭に植えられたもので、当時は6本ありました。昭和27（1952）年に伐採されたとき、1本だけ残されることになりました。日よけの役目を果たしたり、葉の色の移りかわりが目を楽しませてくれたり、たくさんの児童たちと共に育ってきた木です。』とのこと。
