You find a lot of people coming in and wandering around without facemasks, not realizing that even when you are fully vaccinated you can still catch COVID and Spread it around to others. Daiei should, just as Nissin has done, have a "No Mask, No Entry!" policy.... -------------- ----------------- Pre-Pandemic: Excellent store - this is place the locals go to, and with good reason - it provides everything at a decent price. The Staff are friendly and speak some English too. It's crowded at certain times of the day, so be warned. selection of Suishi/Sashimi is good, as too bentos and precooked foods - so you can live off the place without a microwave or stove at home. On the downside, they have an escalator going up, to the second floor, but nothing to assist coming down. I really think they could install an elevator at the exit next to the frozen goods section to make it easier for the Elders or Disabled people to get around - hence the 4 Stars. *Update (Mar-2021) - they've added Self-Checkouts on the RH lane leaving the shop. Sadly they have not put plastic screens up between those and the ones in the Middle - so you can end up facing someone who doesnt wear a mask because their talking loudly upon their phone! ( I hope they fix that). Also, when people pay with the new Cash-less (rather than Credit Card)... it takes much more time fiddling around - really annoying, especially during busy periods... I'd advise just stick to Credit Card - much quicker and collect the points please!

Like many other supermarkets, the cooked food selection goes on discount later at night, after the dinnertime rush. 1st floor is fresh fruit and vegetables, milk and juices, fresh seafood and prepared foods, as well as breads. 2nd floor is fresh meats, cooking ingredients, noodles, pickled vegetables, and household stuff (laundry detergent, soap, cleaning products, ect).
