It is the residence of Motonobu Kano, a painter of the Muromachi Shogunate, and his descendants. Motonobu was born here in 1476 (Civilization 8) and died in 1559 (Eiroku 2) at the age of 84, but the mansion continues with Matsuei and Eitoku, and his children and disciples protect the work of Kyo-Kano. The ruins of the mansion where Motonobu laid the foundation for the 300 years of the Kano school now only leave a stone monument. Motonobu is a person who has laid the foundations for the Kano school. "Kano Motonobu" inherits the style of his father "Kano Masanobu", organizes the painting method of "Kan-e", which is a Chinese style painting at that time, and incorporates the technique of "Yamato-e" there. By doing so, he created the style of painting of the Kano school and laid the foundation for the prosperity of the Kano school in the early modern period. While responding to the demands of those in power by becoming a painter for the Muromachi Shogunate, Ichii actively sold fans painted to the townspeople and became the center of the "fan seat" at that time. Instead of just drawing pictures, we promoted the sale of pictures as a business. Since then, it is said that successive generations of the Kano family lived in this area. The current "Kano Zuko" is an ordinary residential area. "Kano Motonobu" was the place where the residence of Motonobu Kano, who laid the foundation of the painter Kano school in the Muromachi period, was located, and the alleys nearby became known as "Kano Zuko". I did. In Kyoto, which boasts a thousand-year history, there are many narrow roads called alleys that lead to the depths of the town. Of alleys, the alleys that connect between the main roads and alleys are called "zushiko", and the dead-end dead-end alleys are sometimes called "alleys".
