滝の大きさに圧倒されます。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 赤岩の滝は奥日光山中の秘瀑である。もともと険阻な地形ゆえに観光地として発展した日光であるから、その一帯には、 日光４８滝ともいわれるように数多くの滝がある。観光都市だけに、華厳の滝をはじめとする名の知れた滝では、人だかりの多さから訪れる気も しなくなってしまうが、運よく開発されずに残されて存在しているものも少なくないのは救いだ。
落差５０ｍ、水量も充分で、むき出した岩肌を流れ落ちる、景観のすばらしい滝は，白根山の南面に起源し中禅寺湖に流れ込んでいる柳沢川に ある。幸い、滝までの道程は長く、ほとんど訪れる人もないからひとりだけの静かな散策を楽しめる。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ バス停西ノ湖入り口から、林と川沿いを約2時間程歩いて着けます。
川を4ヶ所程、石の上を渡りますが、滝を見付けた感動は、独特の物でした。
