While touring Japan, near Gifu, I found a tear in the sidewall of my rear wheel, on a day that was apparently a holiday. I found this bike store and, although it was mostly stocked with the narrower tyres of racing bicycles, he took the time to find the widest available tyre that would suit my touring bike. This tyre (Panaracer) saw me safely complete my journey to Tokyo.
D	Dr. Woollock on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ In 20 years, this is perhaps the rudest shop I have been to in Japan outside of Kyoto, where a certain icyness is somewhat par for the course. I have quite literally just returned from there, and am amazed how they can stay in business. Firstly, there is insufficient cycle parking onsite, the stands they have are taken up by stock, so I had to lean my Canondale against a post. I walked into the very small shop, and NO greeting whatsoever, either from the owner fixing a bike on the floor in the doorway, or the lady behind the counter; apparently I am completely invisible... So the owner, the woman and two customers continued their discussion about drinking and I waited to hear "ちょっと待って下さい" or "いらしゃいませ".. nothing! Completely ignored, so I left never to return. Love to shop local, but with experiences like this, better to stick to Wiggle.
