平	平野善信 on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 山陽本線相生駅から分岐した赤穂線播州赤穂駅の開業は１９５１年１２月１２日、今年で開業７０周年と比較的新しい駅。更に１９５５年３月１日、日生駅迄部分開通を行い、東岡山駅迄の全線開通は１９６２年９月１日に全線開通の運びと成った。開業前日迄は国鉄時代の有年駅から当時の播州赤穂駅迄、赤穂鉄道と言う軽便鉄道が千種川沿いを走っていたらしいが、国鉄開業と引換えに役目を終えた様だ。駅の命名については、当時飯田線に赤穂駅（あかほ駅、現在の駒ヶ根駅）が存在していたので播州を冠した駅名に成った様だが、播磨赤穂駅でも良かったと思うのだが、やはり知名度抜群の赤穂浪士の人気にあやかって、播磨よりも播州赤穂駅に落ち着いたのだろうね？ Banshu-Ako Station on the Ako Line, which diverged from Aioi Station on the Sanyo Main Line, opened on December 12, 1951, and this year marks the 70th anniversary of its opening, making it a relatively new station. R	Ryuichi Sugiyama on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 岡山方面への乗り換えに小一時間程あったので改札を出て駅前を散策しました。赤穂浪士縁の地ということで、駅前には大石内蔵助(？)の像が立ち、道沿いには四十七士に関する碑等もありました。朝9時半くらいでしたが、人も少なく静かな駅前でした。 I had about an hour to transfer to the Okayama area, so I left the ticket gate and took a walk in front of the station.
