★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 近くの住民は「お吾妻さま」と呼んでいます。石段３０m手前のクヌギの大木に、よくクワガタ取りに行きました。５０年もの歳月を経て、木も形を変えておりました。
Local residents call it "Azuma-sama". I often went to get stag beetles at a big tree of Quercus acutissima 30m before the stone steps. After 50 years, the tree has also changed its shape.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 苔むした階段が古さとここを守っているんだなぁと思わせます。社殿は何らかの理由で壊れたのかもしれません。周りの壁がブロックで出来ていました。清々しい気持ちでしっかり拝んできました。横須賀にもこういう神社がしっかり残っているとはいいですね。
It makes me think that the mossy stairs protect the oldness and here. The shrine may have been destroyed for some reason. The surrounding wall was made of blocks. I have worshiped with a refreshing feeling. It would be nice if such a shrine still remains in Yokosuka.

散歩コースには、静かで、自然豊かで最適です。
ご覧の通り、社以外は、何も有りません。
ここから、長浦社へ通じる道もあり、ハイキング気分を味わえます。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ もともとは現在、米軍の管理地となっている箱崎にあったとされていて、明治期に日本海軍に土地を接収され、現在の場所に移されたらしい。
至る険しい山道は、下を通る国道16号線のトンネルが出来るまでは山越えに使われた道。
今では寂しい場所だが、当時はそんな事なかったのだろう。
お社はブロックの小屋にすっぽり収まっていて、趣も何も無いが、苔むした階段はなかなかの雰囲気
祭神は日本武尊と弟橘媛
