★ ★ ★ ★ ★ TL;DR: Lovely ambience. Went in late May- spring. Weather was good, so we could ramble about the place. Walked to the 12 lakes area. Highly recommended.
-Resort: the resort is spacious, with each cottage far enough away for privacy. The herb restaurant, dining hall and onsen are in separate buildings. there is also a event "tent" (more like a pyramid), huge playground, and a nature watching tower. Oh, there is also morning yoga and some star gazing events.
-connectivity: there is wifi, but only at the reception. No biggie, as there's lots to do around the resort and around the area. And the wifi that IS there is full strength 4 bars. ??

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very nice hotel. We stayed in an European style cabin which was clean and self-contained (except without kitchen). The dinner was delicious and the staff was informative and helpful. They paid attention to every detail, like placing a printout of two days weather forecast inside the cabin. Will definitely come back and recommend it to those will visit Mt. Shirakami.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great location, easy access to amazing trails through the beech forests around the lakes. Log cabins were spacious and comfortable. We had breakfast and dinner included- dinners were specially good! We were there in the shoulder season and midweek it was very quiet but got more lively on Friday and Saturday. Is looking a bit tired in places, particularly the playground. But we really enjoyed our stay.
