If, however, you're hoping to enjoy a taste of Japanese nostalgic bread, then you've found it. The grandmother who bakes everything is also in charge of the register, and she appreciates you bringing your own bag but will provide you one without charge. The varieties available include: coffee bread, cheese bread, blueberry, chocolate chip, and others. The later in the afternoon you go, the less choice you'll have, but you also get a discount of ~30 yen per bread starting around 2:30 pm. All the baked items have a pillowy white bread base and are infused with whatever flavors are listed on the little cards in front of each bread variety. Sadly, no English to speak of, but if you bring your smartphone, you can probably Google sight translate the items. The classics are also represented: anpan and anpan with butter. There's also whole loaves of white bread, if you'd like to control the slicing for your own sandwiches of morning toast. No weekend hours at all, but if you're free during the week, then I recommend heading out and checking into this slice of throwback Japan.
