落神の宮は、山に三社、川に三社ある総称で、六社権現と呼ばれている。長谷寺縁起文によると、昔雷神が龍蔵権現神社に祀られていた毘沙門天御所持の宝塔を取り、天に昇ろう して落ちた所で、落神の地名の起源になっている六社の一つ。川の中の巨大磐座に味組高彦根命を祭神する祠が安置され､古来より雷除け、災害防止等 霊験あらたかな神として厚く信仰されている。この磐座は初瀬ダム建設により湖底に水没したため、磐座の面影を記録にとどめ、御神徳を顕彰し当所に遷座する。
