赤磐市松木に〔蝉塚〕と呼ばれる芭蕉句碑がある。閑けさや岩にしみ入る蝉のこゑ　芭蕉場所は、熊山図書館の９００メートルほど北西、小野田川の東側の山裾で、岩梨小学校の跡。句碑と共に明治天皇御製の歌碑も建っている。あさみどり澄みわたりたる大空の広きをおのが心ともがなこの句碑は、最初に教えてもらった場所になくて、困っていると地元の人たちが、心当たりがあると連れて行ってくれて見つけたもの。彼らもこの句碑の存在を知らなかったようだが、自分らも興味があるからと、一緒に軽トラ（彼らの準備してくれた）に同乗して現場に向かった。句碑裏に書かれている建立者は地元ではよく知られた人のようで、彼らも納得の様子であった。地元の人たちには感謝。
