To begin with, it’s difficult to access, as the bus from Oga station only comes by once every 3 hours, meaning you will be stranded here a long time if you didn’t rent a car. The path to the shrine is a long and unpleasant uphill hike over uneven stones. It is allegedly 999 steps but your experience will vary given. It is very hot, very uncomfortable, and you will get big bites. Upon finally reaching the top, there is not much to look at. Just a couple of small, unremarkable wooden buildings made significantly less attractive by the unpleasantness of getting to them. Take a look at the pictures and decide for yourself if it’s worth the journey, but I would have to say no.
