呉市の市内電車は日本で６番目に開業し、この場所には変電所と車庫がありました。昭和２年４月９日に落成した変電所は、昭和４２年１２月１７日に廃止されるまで稼働しました。現在、電車の敷石が一部モニュメントとして、ここに残されています。呉市電の痕跡は市内にも全く残されていないので、貴重な物だと思います。車両が１両、呉市天応大浜にある呉ポートピアパーク内に展示してあります。

Kure city's tram opened sixth in Japan, where there was a substation and a garage. The substation, which was completed on April 9, 1967, was in operation until it was closed on December 17, 1967. At present, some paving stones of the train are left here as monuments. Since no trace of the Kure tram is left in the city at all, I think it is a valuable thing. One vehicle is on display at Kure Port Pier Park in Tenohama Beach, Kure City.

呉市の市内電車は日本で6番目に開業し、この場所にその変電所と車庫がありました。昭和42年12月17日に電車事業が廃止されるまで稼働し市電の活躍を支えてきました。【爺ちゃんの昔噺】此処にこがいなもんが有るたｧ、知らんかったんじゃがｧ、ほうなんかｧ、電車がのおなって、もう50年以上になるんかｧ、ほうじゃのｫ。呉の電車は電車の博物館として有名な広島電鉄より早く、西は川原石から東の長浜まで走っとったんョ。川原石を出て陸橋を越え、西六から旧国道本道31号線呉警察署の前を通って四道路、本通りから呉越峠を登り、阿賀海岸通に下って、この車庫前を通過して広交差点、そして長浜の入江神社前まで、ガタゴトガタゴトのんびり走っとったんでェ。モニュメントとか言うもんにして後世に伝えるのは、ええことよのｫ。
