仏様の手のジェスチャーを印相（いんぞう）と言うそうです。満願寺の薬師如来像の印相は「定印」で、「禅定印」とも呼ばれることもあるように、深い深い瞑想に入られている姿を表しています。人差し指を親指に付けて輪を作るようにしてある「定印」は、他に鎌倉大仏でも見る事が出来ます。

満願寺薬師堂は、仁王門と同時期(元禄4/1691)年に建てられたもので木造平屋建て、入母屋、銅板葺、平入、桁行4間、梁間4間(前方2間は外壁が無く吹きはなし)、正面1間向拝付き、外壁は真壁造板張り木部朱塗りです。本尊の金剛釈迦如来立像は飛鳥時代に制作されたと推定される茨城県内で一番古い古像で、高さ18.7㎝、像高16.0cm、当時の典型的な特徴を持ち貴重なことから昭和33(1958)年に茨城県重要文化財に指定されています。
