When the river was flooded, cute flowers were blooming where they would go into the water. When I think of the heavy rain a few days ago, I am healed by the lonely flowers.

In the summer, junior high school children were playing in the river. I'm a little worried because the water isn't very clean. There are many mosquitoes so I can't stay still.

Near the boundary between Shimoasao, Asao-ku, Kawasaki and Miwa, Machida-shi, Tokyo, there is a hydrophilic open space in the triangular area inside the confluence of the Asao and Tsurumi rivers. It is a magnificent park with trees planted, stones (concrete?), Wooden benches, Azumaya, and stairs down to the riverside. At the sharpest apex of the triangle is a staircase leading down to the riverbank. It is a well-built staircase. However, Kawahara is not designed to play in the water or search for creatures. It's like a staircase for getting closer to the water of the river, watching, listening to the sounds, and immersing yourself in the atmosphere of the place. Also, you can now cross the Aso River along the stepping stones. Not only looking at the river from the top of a high bridge, but also getting close to the stream is soothing. There is a notice on the site to keep away from the stairs as it is dangerous when the water level rises. However, even in normal times, there are places where the flow is fast or deep near the bottom of the stairs, so I think that it should be avoided to approach only small children. ("Tsurumi River" is also called "Tanimoto River" in this area.) [About the name of the square] This square does not have the garden name plate that is usually installed in the park. I don't know the name, so I contacted the Yokohama Kawasaki Waterworks Office in Kanagawa Prefecture, which manages this plaza. (November 2017) When asked, "What is the name of the open space at the confluence of the Aso and Tsurumi rivers?", He answered, "I have not given a unique name." Therefore, for identification purposes, I registered it on the map under the name of "Asogawa / Tsurumigawa Confluence Water Square". (May 2018) After that, in the spring of 2021, a magnificent information board for "Onmaki Park Area Guide" was set up in the plaza. The contents are the same as those already installed in Onmaki Park, which is about 100m south. Looking at the surrounding map on the information board, this square also looked like a part of Onmaki Park. However, when I looked it up, this square was managed by Kanagawa Prefecture, while Onmawashi Park was managed by Kawasaki City and the neighboring city of Machida, Tokyo. Although this square is the "surroundings" of Onmaki Park, it does not seem to be part of the park. Onmawashi Park straddles Shimoasao, Asao-ku, Kawasaki, Miwa-machi, Machida-shi, Tokyo, and Jike-cho, Aoba-ku, Yokohama. Because it was a park built on the old channel when the Tsurumi River channel was renovated, it is estimated that the administrative boundaries remain as before. In the basement of Onwa Park, there is a huge tunnel-shaped Onwa Park control pond for flood control, which is managed by the national government and Kanagawa prefecture. So far, there doesn't seem to be an official name for this square.
