賭博場が近くにあって、大日如来のご利益があるとの噂を聞き付けた各地から集まってくるギャンブラーで繁盛していたそうです。200m下の坂下から縁日が立つほど賑やかだったとか。
今では当時のことが嘘みたいにひっそりした地味な坂です。

A slope that runs parallel to Hattori-zaka on the south side of Kohinatadai. One of the leading high-class residential areas in the city, which originated from a samurai residence, spreads out on the slope, overlooking the lowlands around the Kanda River. Pedestrians should be careful because one-way traffic will bring down luxury cars with great speed.
