東急中目黒駅、JR恵比寿駅から徒歩10分ほど、東京共済病院の裏手の閑静な住宅街にあります。
坂の碑には「この辺りの地名であった「別所」が由来といわれる。別所坂は古くから麻布方面から目黒へ入る道としてにぎわい、かつて坂の上にあった築山「新富士」は浮世絵にも描かれた江戸の名所であった。」とあります。
とても急な坂で、坂の上は庚申塔と富士塚跡があり、突き当たりは階段になっています。
かつては富士山が眺められたとか。
