Amazing experience! Delicious onigiri and wonderful staff. You have to make a reservation and they run out of rice so go when they open. The grilled salmon rice ball was so good. I will be dreaming about it!

(A lot of) Japanese people love rice, and naturally that love affair extends to onigiri rice balls. A rice ball was even found in Japan that was dated back to over 2000 years ago. This onigiri specialist, @onigiri_asakusa_yadoroku in Asakusa dates back to when white rice was having a phase as a more luxurious thing in Tokyo, 1954. And it's strange that there is something dedicated to rice balls, something cheap and commonplace these days, but this sit down restaurant knows how to source good ingredients and put together a perfect onigiri. The tarako (salted cod roe) and shiokara (salted fish and squid guts) were particularly good, the nori is a good quality wrapping for the rice ball. The fillings are in a display that looks designed for a sushi counter. Yum.

I absolutely love onigiri! We have so many take away shops in Hong Kong and I eat them several times a week. I was so happy to be able to experience a place where you can actually sit down and enjoy them made on the spot! Lovely lady making the onigiri. Waited until we finished the first to serve the second. I thought the flavor was just a bit lacking on the rice. But maybe this is how they serve them here. We added on the mushroom soup and it was very delicious! Came for a “first dinner” and an overall nice experience.

So good. Cozy environment serving heart warming onigiri. Definitely a michelin star foods. PS: Open at 1130 but can be sold out quite early. We came around 11 to queue and got a entry time at 1220. At around 12, onigiri sold out for the lunch time if u dint manage to get reservation.

Wife and I went to this place twice while staying in Asakusa. Went to this place based on watching Paolo from YouTube. This place did not disappoint, had onigiri like I have never tasted before and something you don’t get back at home. Chef welcomes the first people in and makes it right in front of you.

Michelin listed and the oldest onigiri store in Asakusa. Because of its reputation, may be I just had high hopes that it would be better. It was of course better than the ordinary rice balls we find at the convenience stores. It also gets sold out pretty quickly, you will have to line up before it opens or soon after to be able to definitely try it. having said, the chef is amazing. He is very friendly and funny, and they offer over 10 different types of onigiri at a fairly reasonable price.

Go there early.. and make a reservation!! If you are planning to visit Sensoji Temple, I recommend you stop by this place first to get lunch time slot.. The onigiri were first class.. super crisps seaweed! Good portion and balance between the filling and rice. The quality ingredients and good value. We only wished that they serve us one onigiri at a time. Because when we start eating our third onigiri, the seaweed was not crispy as the first one.

Amazingly good onigiris! One of the best I've had in my 7+ years in Japan. The rice was just so perfect, and the nori super crispy. You can choose the filling you like and while a little pricy for onigiris, they are a Michelin Star shop so totally worth it.
