Communication barrier as store keepers not conversant with English. Bought 2 quality Japanese braided lines at reasonable price.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The staff seem to be making a conscious effort to lose its foreign customers. I have never encountered such rude customer service in Japan until I visited this shop. Roughly 10% of the customers there were foreign and all were treated disrespectfully, myself included. I observed the staff provide friendly and attentive care to all the Japanese customers, but whenever a foreign customer asked for help their smiles quickly disappeared and they became impatient. Even though I spoke to them in Japanese, they were unwilling to go further than to answer with a simple ないです, or "We don't have any." At the register, when I asked again about the availability of the item I wanted, the register lady asked an older male staff member who told her to have someone else help. Then, she directed me to a different area of the store. When I got confused about where to go, the older male staff member saw me and without helping, just microphoned someone else telling them that "the customer is in the wrong side of the store, send so and so to get her." After that he complained to another staff member next to him about how annoying it was while that other staff member stood there smirking. The person who came to help me ended up being a young kid (probably part-timer). When I finally got back to the register, there was a foreign family checking out with the same register lady and when they tried to ask her a question in English, she visibly got annoyed, wrinkled her eyebrows and said right in their face in Japanese, "What the hell are you saying??"
I could keep going, but anyway, the staff here were the worst I've ever seen. Not only that, but several of the customers there also kept giving dirty looks to the foreign customers. Absolutely embarrassing and racist treatment.
