My niece and her friends, who come to visit us from Kansai every year and go sightseeing in Asakusa in kimono, suggested that we go to Kawagoe this year, and they said we would love to go there. Therefore, when I look it up again, there are many kimono rental shops in Kawagoe, and it seems that there are some shops that put only a few cheap kimonos to attract customers and charge extra for others, and some shops that are not very popular due to their customer service attitude. When I actually inquired about it, I found that all the stores were different from what was written on the website, but I took the time to compare them and recommended a store. It's a little inconvenient to get in and out because of the stairs, and I expected it to be a store that is doing its best sincerely, unlike the store that faces the street, but as a result, I could get an option that I didn't ask for without knowing it. It seems that it was. I was disappointed to hear it later. It seems that there were many foreign tourists before Corona, but for Japanese people, this makes me think that it was all-you-can-eat for foreigners who do not understand the language. The city is singing about the town of Kimono, but it is a business that could damage Kawagoe and even Japan's reputation because of the young people and foreigners who came to Kawagoe because they liked kimono and Japanese culture. Is there any measure taken by the tourism association for the stores that are open? The atmosphere of the so-called Little Edo townscape and Kashiya Yokocho are just a few, and most of them are ordinary residential areas in Saitama. I cannot deny the feeling of a disappointing tourist destination. There are many places in Kyoto and Asakusa that have a lot of business, but honestly, the scale as a tourist destination is different from Kawagoe. However, it may be possible to do it thoroughly because the scale is small. I think that no one will come if you are cross-legged to the popularity without fruit. By the way, the sweet potato sweets that my niece bought for me as a souvenir were from Ibaraki prefecture. I'm sorry for everything.

Unfortunately, the number of people was less than I expected due to the rain and the influence of the corona, but it was still crowded with students who came for extracurricular lessons. I parked the parking lot at a nearby toll parking lot and took a walk, but the traffic of cars along the street was extremely dangerous. I eat and drink in front of the shop, so it's hard to avoid it because I'm holding an umbrella in the rain. The candy store Yokocho is also smaller than I imagined. I also entered the Kawagoe Matsuri Kaikan, but the corona measures were well taken, and the elderly man at the reception told me in detail about recommended sightseeing spots and directions, and I was very grateful. The shop staff also wrapped the souvenirs in vinyl so that they wouldn't get wet in the rain, and the warmth of the people was very good (^-^) Imo Koi is delicious!

I'm not taking advantage of the wonderful gifts from the past. The beautiful cityscape of Edo continues to be destroyed by unplanned overdevelopment. The expansion of the road has made it just like a dirty local city. Behind the beautiful brewery town, there is a cheap, half-height condominium. Why doesn't Kawagoe learn from European cities? With this, the charm of the city will be lost more and more. Even if an amateur without knowledge does his best in town planning and sightseeing, there is a limit. Please leave it to a professional.

Suddenly the cityscape changed and I was able to spend time slowly feeling like a time slip. Is it a problem that the street is narrow?

Experience the Edo Era of Japan in Kawagoe is extraordinary. The historical architecture and building in this area will bring you back to the old periode of Japan. You can find many kinds of street food, traditional hand-crafted goods, second-hand store, and many more surrounding this area. It takes around 1.30 hours from Tokyo by JR, so you can go only for one-day trip or stay a night.

Cool museum showcasing history of 小江戸川越. Great starting place to experience all of the local Shinto / Buddhist / Edo era architecture, and brings out the history that is otherwise hard to find in modern day Tokyo.
