★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice local experience.. we were the only non-japanese at the bar. Typical japanese izakaya serving fresh sashimi, tampura, yakituri, and also big dishes of fish and meat. Everything we ordered was very good as well as the local beer and cold sake

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Easy walk from the subway. Really close to the bookstore also. The appetizer or Otōshi was just a hunk of tofu (I think) so that wasn't great and you can smoke inside but I guess that's to be expected in Japan. Overall for quality and price it's not a bad place to stop in. They also have an English menu which is nice! I ordered the vegetable tempura and salmon sashimi.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Today was my 3rd and final visit. The first two times everything was fine. The food is good and reasonably priced. Today I entered and waited to be seated. The staff looked busy so I thought nothing of it when no one came to seat me right away. I looked at the menu at the front desk while I waited. A Japanese man came in behind me and the same "busy" staff member rushed to the front and walked right past me to ask him in Japanese if he needed a table for one and proceeded to seat him and take his order. I turned around and left. I will not go back. I don't know if this treatment was racially motivated or not and I don't care. I care about being ignored and the fact that it was so blatent.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Went late on a weeknight. The place is large enough, and popular. We needed to wait a few minutes for staff to clear a table. The menu is decent, the staff are efficient. The food was good. I enjoyed the steak, the fried oysters and the grilled collar. Good spot if you need somewhere to go.
